Services
Environmental Field Services
We provide vegetation management for land rehabilitation, habitat enhancement, and soil and water conservation. Our Environmental Field Services provide dramatic improvements in vegetative diversity and vigor, and enhance soil health and stability to benefit habitat and improve water quality.
Here is a list of some Environmental Field Services we offer.
Custom Seeding and Planting
Soil Amendment and Preparation
BBS uses specialized seeders, planting augers, and hand tools for diverse restoration and reclamation projects. We have a variety of mulch, fertilizer, and compost application machines; and harrows, plows, rippers, and rollers for specific seed bed preparation requirements and techniques. We design, construct, and maintain browse projection structures and micro-irrigation systems as needed.
Mechanical, Herbicidal, and Biological Control of Noxious and Nuisance Weeds, Brush or Trees
Land infestation by invasive, aggressive, or undesirable plant species presents unique challenges for successful reclamation and restoration projects. BBS provides planning and expert advices for project design, preparation, installation, and maintenance. We implement well-tested vegetation control techniques with state-of-the-art and high-performance machines. Our team is licensed, certified, bonded, and highly qualified in herbicide chemistry, use-technologies, environmental restrictions, and safety. BBS has over 3500 successful herbicide applicator-days of frontline experience. BBS prescribes and applies unique insect, bacterial, and fungal species where bio-controls are appropriate.
Wildfire Fuel Reduction
Hazard Tree Removal
Forest Pest Management
Intermountain forest and steppe habitats have become increasing prone to uncontrolled wildfire risks. The basic techniques for risk reduction include creation of a defensible space, vegetative buffers and thinning, through tree and shrub removal, and reduction of fine fuels. BBS has heavy equipment, experienced sawyers, and man-power to execute custom and precision project work. Forest pest control can be achieved with the appropriate use of insect pheromones and insect traps to further reduce tree mortality and fire risk.
Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices (BMPs)
Installation and Maintenance
Erosion and sediment control is required for many types of projects and is often best achieved with rapid revegetation techniques and use of temporary soft structures (BMPs). BBS excels in streambank and slope stabilization with use of unique equipment, manpower, specific vegetation, and installation of rolled erosion control products. We document the integrity of existing BMPs and perform routine maintenance as required by governing authorities.
Mapping, Assessment and Monitoring of Natural Resources with GPS, GIS, and Imagery Technologies
Using contemporary information and communication technologies allows BBS to design projects, represent field conditions, and interpret spatial data for some land management applications. We offer simple solutions when possible and employ basic field techniques using hand held devices, basic software and apps as appropriate for the each project requirement.
